My surgeon said he doesn't want to operate unless I develop stress incontinence as it could cause scarring but he does recommend Pelvic Floor exercises. Do you think the NatraTone or the Smart Balls would be good for me?

Question

Hi just wondering exactly how the NatraTone works I didn't find anywhere on the website where it tells you EXACTLY! does it work with electrical pulses or is it just sensory and registers the pressure you are exerting? I have just had prolapse surgery for bowel and bladder which has apparently been very successful, however it did reveal that I also have a prolapse of the urethra which was hidden by the other prolapse. My surgeon said he doesn't want to operate in this area unless I develop stress incontinence as it could cause scarring apparently but he does recommend Pelvic Floor exercises. Do you think the

Pelvic Floor Answers

Thank you for your enquiry. We recommend Natratone as the best option for post operative women. The Natratone is inserted into the vaginal opening and then you actively squeeze your pelvic floor muscles over the device in a series of repetitions.

The shape of the device ensure the your pelvic floor muscles are correctly activated. The toy trains both your brain- to recognise which muscles to activate (many people do not use the correct muscles when doing pelvic floor exercises), and you muscles to work in the right sequence.

You practise doing the exercise both with and without the device inserted. Natratone is recommended for women who have had mild to moderate prolapse and would be a better option for you than the SmartBalls.

We recommend waiting until you are fully healed and have had the all clear from your surgeon before using the Natratone and following the recommended programme for the first 6 weeks. Many women choose to use the Natratone for a longer period and more frequently than minimum required once they have mastered the techniques.

Improved blood flow to the area and stronger pelvic floor muscles are the benefits of using the Natratone.
Essentially it is easier to correctly do pelvic floor exercises using the Natratone device, so many women find they have better outcomes.

The Natratone can be used for ongoing maintenance as it is made from a long lasting medical grade material. We have recently updated the 'how to use Natratone' information on this website and an DVD is provided with the product
